THis 14 minute monster features a lot of blistering, fuzz guitar leads- garcia doing the monsters of rock soloing as only he can- and Phil plays terrific counterpoint to all this- It is tasty and inventive throughout- some long LIG can be repetitive- not this one. And the scarlet fire is a stand out in a stand out year for the combo- you really should check this show out

Liam,

I came across one of your reviews and then searched under your name for other reviews - I dig how you point out obscure shows that are excellent but not been 'in the rotation' - thanks man.

I'm a HUGE fan of scarlet-fires so I'm looking forward to listening to this. I'm been getting into the early 80's lately and I've never heard this show.

Good work!

Cool Ty. It's easy to ride a bandwagon so I look to uncover this kind of thing- I am flattered you checked out other reviews- but I am glad - I do this for such a deep love that I have for the music

1981 was such an underrated year in general, and both LIG and SCARLET>FIRE were probably the 2 standouts of that year. Thanks for adding this gem to the file, Liam.

For another great LIG I humbly submit 5/1/81

(AUD better than the SBD, a rarity)

and for a SCARLET>FIRE that goes places many others fear to tread check out 9/25/81, Lehigh Univ.

The transition to Fire and the FIRE itself are amazing (forgive Jerry the one lyric screw up in verse one) and the SCARLET is no slouch either--tremendous Brent contributions, esp. on vocals.
